Air Astana Increases Non-Stop Services From Heathrow to Almaty, Kazakhstan.
London: 11th December, 2006: Air Astana (KC), the national carrier of Kazakhstan, is to add a third weekly non stop service between London Heathrow and Almaty - the country's financial and commercial centre - on Thursdays, with effect from 25th January 2006.
The flight (KC901) will depart from Almaty at 14:20 local time arriving at Heathrow at 16:05. It will depart from Heathrow (KC902) at 21:00, arriving back into Almaty at 10:10 the following (Friday) morning...

New agreement links London and Almaty Financial Centre.
In the framework of President Nazarbayev’s visit to the United Kingdom last week heads of the London Stock Exchange (LSE) and the Regional Financial Centre of Almaty (RFCA) signed a Memorandum on bilateral cooperation formally allying the LSE and the RFCA in a cooperative business relationship. Established earlier this year, the RFCA is a special zone within Almaty, the former capital and the largest city of Kazakhstan. It was designed to serve as a regional financial centre for the Central Asian region and to encourage foreign investment. Foreign companies with businesses in the RFCA receive financial incentives and are reimbursed for auditing costs for registering in the Centre. Investors entering the RFCA have access to the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE), as well as the most stable and developed banking and technological systems in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). James Wolfensohn, former head of the World Bank, has advised President Nazarbayev about the creation of the RFCA, and will continue in his role as an advisor. The agreement between LSE and RFCA is a landmark step on the road to Kazakhstan’s goals of joining the world’s most competitive nations and developing Almaty as a major regional financial hub.
